Jotyar Sedeeq

Director, Center for Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies at the University of Duhok

Jotyar M.R. Sedeeq, Ph.D in International Law, is assistant professor at University of Duhok College of Humanities, Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He is the director of the University of Duhok Center for Peace & Conflict Resolution Studies and head of the Department of Peace and Human Rights Studies, College of Humanities. He has taught several courses on peacebuilding and conflict resolution in University of Duhok‘s master of Arts in Peace and Conflict Resolution Studies program. Dr. Jotyar has worked as Duhok University’s coordinator for two workshops on Building Capacity of Iraqi Academics in Peacebuilding: Instruction and Practice, hosted by New York University’s Center for Global Affairs in 2010 and 2011. He also worked, as co-instructor and coordinator of the Joint Research Seminar in Peacebuilding with NYU’s Center for Global Affairs in 2012 and 2013. Dr. Jotyar has worked and still works as University of Duhok faculty director in several projects with NYU and other institutions including, Supporting of the University of Duhok in Becoming the Center of Excellence, a three year project funded by U.S Department of State; Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion in Ninewa Governorate, a six month project funded by IOM; Improving Local Capacity to Build Peace and Improve Social Cohesion Among Host and Displaced Communities in Duhok and Nineveh Governorates, a one  project implemented by NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and funded by UNDP; Building University Capacity in Peace Education in Duhok and Mosul, a one  project implemented by NYU’s Center for Global Affairs and funded by UNDP. In addition to managing other projects funded by UNICEF, MCC, GIZ, IOM and other.
