ABOUT

Céline is Head of Policy for NYU-PREP, where she leads work to strengthen evidence-based approaches to preventing violence and peacebuilding. Her work focuses on bridging research and policy and building a global community of people with the knowledge, skills, and influence to develop more effective prevention and peacebuilding policies. She works to bring together diverse forms of expertise, ensuring that policy reflects the needs, experiences, and lessons learned from practice.

She has worked with the Swiss Embassies in Colombia and Mexico, Peace Brigades International, the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), and NYU’s Center on International Cooperation.

RESEARCH & FOCUS AREAS: Céline’s work focuses on understanding the underlying causes of violent crime, violent extremism and terrorism, and armed conflict, and on identifying effective strategies to prevent and reduce violence. She seeks to strengthen connections between research and practice and to ensure that policy discussions are grounded in the needs, experiences, and resources available on the ground. Her research is global and seeks to understand both the commonalities and differences across contexts. She has conducted applied research to inform policy in Europe, Africa, the Americas, and Southeast Asia.

CURRENT WORK:

Céline works with governments, the United Nations, researchers, and practitioners to advance more evidence-based policies for preventing and reducing violence. In particular, she leads the development of:

  • Policy Guidance for Effective National Prevention Strategies

  • An Evidence-Based Tool for Identifying Risk and Protective Factors for Violence and Supporting Smarter Policy and Action
