PREP Locally-led Peacebuilding Seminar Series: Environmental Peacebuilding in the Middle East

  • Woolworth Building Room: 412 15 Barclay Street New York, NY, 10007 United States (map)

EcoPeace Middle East shared its innovative approach to environmentally-focused peace education, which involves workshops for high school students, leadership programs and green entrepreneurship programs. EcoPeace's three co-directors -- one each for Israel, Palestine and Jordan -- spoke about the organization's work, which seeks to unite Israelis, Palestinians and Jordanians around issues of climate change and environmental awareness. One of the co-directors said that EcoPeace supported a movement that goes “beyond borders” and serves as a uniting force for youth throughout the region. EcoPeace hopes to create a network of bottom-up and top-down actors who will work together to pursue peacebuilding through environmental awareness  and activism for environmental peacebuilding in the region.

EcoPeace representatives at the seminar were:

Dalit Wolf, Israel Deputy Director
